Flying in? OHTM loves welcoming guests who arrive by air! Owls Head Transportation Museum is located directly across the runway from Knox County Regional Airport (KRKD), offering convenient access for private and transient pilots.

Important Information:

  • Owls Head Airport (KRKD) is adjacent to the museum.
  • Transient parking is available—please check with airport staff upon arrival.
  • Tie-downs and pushback service are not available for larger jets.
  • For fuel or maintenance services, contact Down East Air (207-594-2171).
  • After landing, taxi from Runway 21/03 on the hardpacked grass. Look for the Air Boss tower on your right and taxi toward the gazebo next to the fuel tanks (near the flagpole). Parking is at your own risk.
  • It’s a short walk to the museum entrance—enter through the middle hangar door (unlocked during open hours) and check in at the front desk. Our staff will be happy to assist you!

If you’re flying in with a group or have special needs, please call the museum ahead so they can help make your visit smooth and enjoyable.
